No direct Check Point experience, but if the device has a console you can log into via Telnet or SSH you should be able to get this set up in NCM.
Are you currently backing up any other Check Point devices? If so, you may already have a suitable template to apply to the device, if not you may need to create yourself a template
There is a Check Point template in the content exchange: NCM device template for Checkpoint Firewalls - could be suitable for your model?
Otherwise, try the Device Template Utility NCM 6.1 device template assistant utility - which should allow you to create your own custom template from scratch. Helpful video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VP4r0aQO35U
Bear in mind you're going to need suitable credentials to log into the device, SNMP strings etc. NCM has the power to be destructive, so make sure you do adequate testing!
In order to apply a template to a device, make sure it's added into NPM first.
Go to Configs (tab) and click 'MANAGE NCM NODES'
Find and edit the properties of the relevant node
Scroll 3/4 of the way down the node properties screen and ensure that 'Manage node(s) with NCM' is set to 'Yes'.
You can then begin populating the remaining login details for the device. Under Communication is where you select the relevant device template.
