I think I know which template you may be using and that does seem a bit limited. It could be modified if we learned the language it uses. Or it might be easier to push a script under Configuration Management. Of course by that time, you could have configured those two descriptions from the CLI. I really liked being able to make a minor tweak from a downloaded config, then highlight and upload specific lines from the NCM console. I am going to miss that. The NCM web GUI is a lot more clicking.
I have created scripts for major changes and pushed it out with the NCM web GUI. The biggest advantage there was I could schedule it to run during off hours. For example, I changed some VLAN and description information for half of the ports on the switch in the script and scheduled it to run after hours so it wouldn't affect anyone during the day.
