Well, we are a bit of a strange case. We are transitioning the NPM from our full-time use to our NOC's. They will add, delete, and change devices since they have the fancy monitors and big-screen TV's for that. We are even going to train them on setting up alerts as well. Critical Node (a customer property) alerts will still go to our Network Services on-call phone.
We are working with SW support as I write this to spin the NCM off as a separate entity; much like we have 2 instances of UDT running, one for corporate (finding people and their devices) and the other for our retail stores scanning for rogue devices plugging into the network. We are spinning off the NCM from the NPM database so we can maintain control of pushing ACL updates, etc. This is a function we do NOT want the NOC to have any control over.
